I have the honour to enclose for Your Excel-

-leacy's consideration copies of the cor-

-respondence noted in the margin, on the

subject of a seizure by the Viceroy at Canton of property mortgaged by one Fung

Wa Chuo a Merchant of this Colony to the

National Bank of China, Limited.

The letter of the

Colonial Secretary dated the 21st. ultimo,

cuts the case of the National Bank of

China fully and plainly, and accurately represents the legal aspect

of the question.

3. As the Viceroy ignored the just claies of a

registered British Corporation, I trust Your Excellency will see

fit to bring his action under the notice of the proper authorities

and to press for an early removal of the attachment placed upon the

property in question, viz.:- a large quantity of coel.
